Pfizer has chosen actor Patrick Dempsey to help guide cancer patients to the resources they need, aiming to improve patient support and care.

Pfizer and the American Cancer Society (ACS) have teamed up with actor Patrick Dempsey to spotlight healthcare access issues that lead to unequal cancer outcomes. They aim to improve access to cancer screenings, focusing first on breast and prostate cancer. Pfizer is investing $15 million over three years to connect people with free or low-cost screening options.

Patrick Dempsey, known for his role in “Grey’s Anatomy,” joined the project, bringing attention to the cause. His personal experience with his mother’s long battle with ovarian cancer led him to create the Dempsey Center, which supports cancer patients in Maine.

Dempsey emphasizes the importance of timely care but notes that many people, especially in areas with limited healthcare, struggle to get cancer information and screenings. He is supporting Pfizer and ACS by speaking with cancer-affected individuals from rural areas in the “Front Porch Conversations” video series to raise awareness and guide them to helpful resources.
